Soak up solidified lemony dessert (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

posset

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'lemony dessert' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both things that one consumes for nourishment as well as being singular nouns.
Perhaps they are linked in a way I don't understand?

'soak up solidified' is the wordplay.
'soak' becomes 'sop' ('sop' can be a synonym of 'soak').
'up' says the letters should be written backwards (in down clue: letters go upwards).
'solidified' becomes 'set' (I've seen this before).
'sop' written backwards gives 'pos'.
'pos'+'set'='POSSET'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for posset that I've seen before include "So step on curdled milk once used as a cold remedy" , "As relief for cold" , "Sweet spiced milk curdled with alcohol" , "Curdled milk drink" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
