Soldier with his own kind of punishment (8)
I believe the answer is:
corporal
'kind of punishment' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'soldier with his own' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'soldier' could be 'ra' (member of the Royal Artillery) and 'ra' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for corporal that I've seen before include "Army rank" , "Bodily" , "Poor Carl (anag)" , "NCO rank below sergeant" , "characterising a body" .)
