'ceremonies' can be an answer for 'rituals' (I have seen 'Religious rituals ' mean 'ceremonies' so perhaps 'rituals' could also mean 'ceremonies'). I'm not certain of the 'solemn' bit.

'disturbed' indicates an anagram (the order of letters is disturbed).
'nieces'+'more'='niecesmore'
'niecesmore' with letters rearranged gives 'CEREMONIES'.
