Some legal issue about farm production (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

silage

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'farm production' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't see how one could define the other.

'some legal issue about' is the wordplay.
'some' indicates the answer is hidden within the clue (some parts of the word are used).
'about' says the letters should be written in reverse.
'egalis' is hidden within 'legal issue'.
'egalis' in reverse letter order is 'SILAGE'.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for silage that I've seen before include "Crop harvested for fodder" , "Green fodder stored and fermented" , "Fermented feeding stuff for cattle" , "Animal fodder harvested while green and partially fermented" , "Fodder that's partially fermented" .)
