Crossword Genius

Somehow my clue shows where peripatetics ponder (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

lyceum

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'where peripatetics ponder' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't see how one could define the other.

I cannot understand how the rest of the clue works.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for lyceum that I've seen before include "Aristotle's teaching place" , "Athenian garden where Aristotle taught" , "hall" , "Public building for lectures, concerts, plays etc" , "Where in Athens Aristotle taught philosophy" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times and The Sunday Times.
