I believe the answer is:

ugandan

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'someone from africa' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both people as well as being singular nouns.
Perhaps they are linked in a way I don't understand?

'united gabon with angola' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'united' could be 'u' (abbreviation as in Man U for Manchester United) and 'u' is present in the answer.
'with' could be 'and' and 'and' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'gan' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for ugandan that I've seen before include "One from Kampala" , "Particular African" , "Nationality of citizen of Kampala" , "From an East African country?" , "Eg, Kampala native" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
