Crossword Genius

Something advantageous, like false teeth, say (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

asset

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

This could be a double definition.

'something' is the first definition.
(I have seen 'Something of worth ' mean 'asset' so perhaps 'something' could also mean 'asset')

'advantageous like false teeth say' is the second definition.
The answer and definition can be both to do with communicating as well as being verbs in their base form.
Maybe there's a link between them I don't understand?

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for asset that I've seen before include "Valuable possession, worth having" , "Boon" , "Useful or valuable quality or possession" , "Useful item" , "Item conferring advantage" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
