Crossword Genius

Something black queen found in jug (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

pitcher

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'jug' is the definition.
(I know that pitcher is a type of pitcher)

'something black queen' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'something' could be 'it' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'it' is located in the answer.
'queen' could be 'er' (abbreviation for Elizabeth Regina) and 'er' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'found in' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for pitcher that I've seen before include "Earthenware jug" , "Baseball bowler and vessel for liquid" , "Baseball thrower or water jug" , "American sportsman" , "One throwing" .)

I've seen this clue in The Sun.
