Crossword Genius

Something cooked, right off the jetty (3)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

pie

'something cooked' is the definition.
(I know this)

'right off the jetty' is the wordplay.
'right' becomes 'r' (common abbreviation).
'off' indicates named letters should be taken away (some letters taken off).
'the jetty' becomes 'pier' (I've seen this in another clue).
'pier' with 'r' taken out is 'PIE'.

(Other definitions for pie that I've seen before include "In the sky, this is wishful thinking" , "bakery item" , "In the sky, this dish is impractical" , "Pecan or blueberry dish?" , "Food baked under pastry" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
