Something hopped right on your toes (5)
I believe the answer is:
alert
'on your toes' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'something hopped right' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'right' could be 'rt' (abbreviation as in Rt Hon- the Right Honourable) and 'rt' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ale' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for alert that I've seen before include "Prompt" , "Intellectually active" , "Wide awake and watchful" , "Danger warning" , "Warning signal" .)
