Soprano bursting into so-so Come Together (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

mesh

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'come together' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'soprano bursting into so-so' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'soprano' could be 's' (musical abbreviation) and 's' is present in the answer.
'so-so' could be 'meh' (I've seen this in another clue) and 'meh' is found in the leftover letters.
This accounts for all the letters.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for mesh that I've seen before include "Web" , "Grid, netting" , "Interlock" , "fit together" , "Piece of netting" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times and The Sunday Times.
