Sorting out one's directions - and presumably not going west! (11)
I believe the answer is:
orientating
'sorting out' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are present participle verbs, I can't see how one could define the other.
'one's directions and presumably not going west' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'directions' could be 'en' (east and north) and 'en' is present in the answer.
'and' could be 'n' (common abbreviation for 'and') and 'n' is found in the answer.
'not' could be 'o' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'o' is located in the answer.
'one' could be 'i' (Roman numeral) and 'i' is present in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
