Stage play’s latest bloomer (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

daisy

'bloomer' is the definition.
(I know that daisy is a type of bloomer)

'stage play's latest' is the wordplay.
'stage' becomes 'dais' (type of platform or stage).
'latest' says to take the final letters.
The last letter of 'play' is 'y'.
'dais'+'y'='DAISY'

(Other definitions for daisy that I've seen before include "Composite" , "See 1 Across" , "chain, just the smallest bit?" , "Common wildflower" , "Old song: '. . . . ., . . . . . give me your answer, do'" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times and The Sunday Times.
