'staggered' is the definition.
('reel' can be a synonym of 'stagger')

'journalist after film' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'journalist' could be 'ed' (short for editor) and 'ed' is located in the answer.
'film' could be 'reel' (reel is a kind of film) and 'reel' is present in the answer.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for reeled that I've seen before include "Staggered or tottered" , "Danced; staggered" , "Staggered about in lively dance?" , "Felt giddy, staggered" , "Wound up" .)

I've seen this clue in The Daily Express.
