Crossword Genius

Staging between flights (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

landing

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

This could be a double definition.

'staging' is the first definition.
Although both the answer and definition are present participle verbs, I can't see how one could define the other.

'between flights' is the second definition.
(I've seen this before)

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for landing that I've seen before include "Level area between stair flights" , "A gap between flights" , "getting in fish" , "Intermediate platform in a staircase" , "It ends a flight (in two ways)" .)

I've seen this clue in The Globe and Mail.
