Stick out for what you've planned to do (7)
I believe the answer is:
project
'stick out' is the definition.
(I know that stick out can be written as project)
'for what you've planned to do' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'for' could be 'pro' (as in being 'pro' or in favour of something) and 'pro' is located in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for project that I've seen before include "Scheme - stick out!" , "Protrude; enterprise" , "Scheme, hurl" , "Stick out; proposed undertaking" , "Stick out; lengthy task" .)
