Story in which the head isn't mentioned (4)
I believe the answer is:
tale
'story' is the definition.
(I know that story can be written as tale)
'the head isn't mentioned' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'the' could be 't' (the is pronounced as a 't' sound in some dialects) and 't' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ale' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'in which' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for tale that I've seen before include "Yarn or story" , "A story, perhaps out of school" , "Fable" , "Late with a story" , "Story; lie" .)
