Strolls around what sounds like Italian capitals (5)
I believe the answer is:
roams
'sounds like italian capitals' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are verbs in their -s form, I don't see how one could define the other.
'strolls around' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'around' could be 'o' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'o' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'rams' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'what' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for roams that I've seen before include "Is traveller" , "Wanders about, rambles" .)
