Substitute not wanting to relax (6,3)
I believe the answer is:
switch off
'relax' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are verbs in their base form, I cannot understand how one could define the other.
'substitute not wanting' is the wordplay.
'substitute' becomes 'switch' (I've seen this before).
'not wanting' becomes 'off' (eg someone no longer eating something is 'off' it).
'switch'+'off'='SWITCH OFF'
'to' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for switch off that I've seen before include "Lose concentration" , "Disconnect power" , "Stop paying attention" .)
