'succeeding in falling while riding' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both to do with contact as well as being present participle verbs.
Maybe they are linked in a way I don't understand?

'falling while riding' is the wordplay.
'falling' becomes 'coming' ('come' can be a synonym of 'fall').
'while riding' becomes 'off' (I am not sure about this - if you are sure you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'coming'+'off'='COMING OFF'
