Crossword Genius

* Suit part in Magnificent Seven twist (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

west

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'seven twist' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't see how they can define each other.

'suit part in magnificent' is the wordplay.
'part' suggests taking the first letters.
'in' is an insertion indicator.
'magnificent' becomes 'wet' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
The first letter of 'suit' is 's'.
's' going inside 'wet' is 'WEST'.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for west that I've seen before include "Mae -, US actress; W" , "Small white dog" , "'Go ___ , young man'" , "Occident" , "Dog (from Argyll?)" .)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
