Superior office (6)
I believe the answer is:
abbacy
This might be a double definition.
'superior' is the first definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't understand how one could define the other.
'office' is the second definition.
(I have seen 'Religious office' mean 'abbacy' so perhaps 'office' could also mean 'abbacy')
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for abbacy that I've seen before include "Office of an abbot" , "Office of a chief monk" , "Office of senior monk" , "ecclesiastical office" , "Office of the head of a religious house" .)
