I believe the answer is:

concertina

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'sure to' is the definition.
I can't judge whether this definition defines the answer.

'a move after trick one's played' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'a' is found in the answer.
'after' could be 'once' (once can mean immediately after) and 'once' is found within the answer.
'one' could be 'i' (Roman numeral) and 'i' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'make' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for concertina that I've seen before include "gig belonging to American" , "Musical instrument with bellows" , "Squeeze box" , "Instrument played like an accordion" , "Collapse" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
