Surrounded by worry, with doctor called in (7)
I believe the answer is:
amongst
'surrounded by' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'worry with doctor called in' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'doctor' could be 'mo' (medical officer) and 'mo' is found in the answer.
'worry' could be 'angst' (angst means worry or dread) and 'angst' is present in the remaining letters.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for amongst that I've seen before include "Amid" , "Within the group of" , "Famous novel by John McGahern: '... Women'" , "Together with" , "In the midst of" .)
