Crossword Genius

Survey and send off to Iran with fertiliser (10)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

pollinator

'fertiliser' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'survey and send off to iran' is the wordplay.
'survey' becomes 'poll' (polling is a kind of surveying).
'and' says to put letters next to each other.
'send off' indicates anagramming the letters (I've seen 'sent off' mean this).
'to'+'iran'='toiran'
'toiran' is an anagram of 'inator'.
'poll'+'inator'='POLLINATOR'

'with' is the link.

(Other definitions for pollinator that I've seen before include "busy bee?" , "WASP, say" , "fertiliser" .)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
