Suspenseful part - punching, grabbing! (4-6)
I believe the answer is:
nail-biting
'suspenseful' is the definition.
(I know that suspenseful can be written as nail-biting)
'part punching grabbing' is the wordplay.
'part' becomes 'bit' (both mean a piece of something).
'punching' means one lot of letters goes inside another (some letters punch a hole in others).
'grabbing' becomes 'nailing' (I can't explain this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'bit' going inside 'nailing' is 'NAIL-BITING'.
Can you help me to learn more?
I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
