Crossword Genius

Sweeping home with record speed — about one minute (14)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

indiscriminate

'sweeping' is the definition.
(similar in meaning)

'home with record speed about one minute' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'home' could be 'at' (synonyms) and 'at' is found within the answer.
'record' could be 'disc' (eg a CD, compact disc) and 'disc' is located in the answer.
'one' could be 'i' (Roman numeral) and 'i' is found in the answer.
'minute' could be 'min' (abbreviation) and 'min' is found in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

(Other definitions for indiscriminate that I've seen before include "purposeless" , "Uncritical" , "Done at random" , "Sweeping" , "Acting at random" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
