Sweet grain topped with dough (3,5)
I believe the answer is:
ice lolly
'sweet' is the definition.
(I know that freezer pop is a type of ice cream)
'grain topped with dough' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'dough' could be 'lolly' (I've seen this before) and 'lolly' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ice' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for ice lolly that I've seen before include "'Frozen sweet on a stick (3,5)'" , "Frozen treat" , "What young sucker preferred" , "It's frozen on a small wooden stick" , "summer treat" .)
