Swim over sea back to front, being fat (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

adipose

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'being fat' is the definition.
('adipose' can be similar in meaning to 'fat')

'swim over sea back to front' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'swim' could be 'dip' (dip is a kind of swim) and 'dip' is present in the answer.
'over' could be 'o' (cricket abbreviation) and 'o' is found within the answer.
an anagram of 'sea' is 'ase' which is located in the remaining letters.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
