Swimmer in good old school group? (8)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

goldfish

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'swimmer' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I cannot see how one could define the other.

'good old school group?' is the wordplay.
'good' becomes 'g' (abbreviation).
'school group?' becomes 'fish' (I've seen this in another clue).
'g'+'old'+'fish'='GOLDFISH'

'in' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for goldfish that I've seen before include "Pond or aquarium fish" , "one enjoying pond life?" , "Bowl or pond dweller" , "he may go round in a tank" , "Place lacking privacy" .)

I've seen this clue in The Sun.
