Swiss-German painter finally taken with English Times, an absorbing paper (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

kleenex

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'paper' is the definition.
(Kleenex is an example)

'swiss-german painter finally taken with english times an absorbing' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'painter' could be 'klee' (I have seen 'Swiss painter ' mean 'klee' so perhaps 'painter' could also mean 'klee') and 'klee' is found in the answer.
'english' could be 'e' (abbreviation) and 'e' is found in the answer.
'times' could be 'x' (multiplication sign) and 'x' is located in the answer.
A single letter 'n' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Another definition for kleenex that I've seen is " Disposable tissue brand".)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
