Taken to the inner man (5)
I believe the answer is:
eaten
'taken' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'the inner man' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'the' could be 't' (the is pronounced as a 't' sound in some dialects) and 't' is present in the answer.
'man' could be 'n' (knight, a man in chess) and 'n' is found within the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'to' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for eaten that I've seen before include "Swallowed" , "corroded" , "Got" , "Crammed" , "having taken courses?" .)
