Taking forever, having seconds at dinner? (4-9)
I believe the answer is:
time-consuming
'taking forever' is the definition.
(something time-consuming takes a long time)
'having seconds at dinner?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'having' could be 'consuming' ('consume' can be a synonym of 'have') and 'consuming' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'time' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for time-consuming that I've seen before include "Taking a long while" , "Protracted" , "Prolonged" .)
