Crossword Genius

Talk like the Beatles to right-winger (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

confab

'talk' is the definition.
(I know that confab is a more specific form of the action converse)

'like the beatles to right-winger' is the wordplay.
'like the beatles' becomes 'fab' (the Beatles were called the Fab Four).
'to' means one lot of letters go next to another (I've seen this in other clues).
'right winger' becomes 'con' (conservative).
'fab' put after 'con' is 'CONFAB'.

(Other definitions for confab that I've seen before include "Informal conversation" , "Informal discussion (colloq.)" , "Chat (colloquial)" , "natter" , "casual conversation" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
