I believe the answer is:

sashimi

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'food' is the definition.
(sashimi is a kind of food)

'that man is originally supporting airline' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'man' could be 'ash' and 'ash' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'simi' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for sashimi that I've seen before include "dish from Japan" , "foreign dish" , "possible accompaniment to 26 [SAKI]" , "Something of chef's" , "Japanese raw fish - I'm as his (anag)" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
