The havoc when I'm given the runaround (4)
I believe the answer is:
ruin
'the havoc' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'i'm given the runaround' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'i'm' could be 'i' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'i' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'run' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'when' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for ruin that I've seen before include "Destroy; downfall" , "building now demolished" , "Defeat" , "Wrecked building" , "Scotch" .)
