The height of joy, some devils admitted (9)
![Ross](/clue/static/ross-mug.min.png)
I believe the answer is:
elevation
'the height' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'of joy some devils admitted' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'of' could be 'o' and 'o' is present in the answer.
'some' could be 'a' and 'a' is present in the answer.
'admitted' could be 'in' (eg someone might be admitted into a group) and 'in' is present in the remaining letters.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for elevation that I've seen before include "Diagram" , "Height above sea level" , "Side of a building; height" , "scale drawing" , "Leave it on for altitude of a place" .)
