Crossword Genius

The issue turns to hotel food (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

nosh

'food' is the definition.
(nosh is a kind of food)

'the issue turns to hotel' is the wordplay.
'the issue' becomes 'son' (issue can mean someone's offspring).
'turns' says the letters should be written backwards.
'to hotel' becomes 'h' (phonetic alphabet: alpha, bravo, charlie etc.).
'son' in reverse letter order is 'nos'.
'nos'+'h'='NOSH'

(Other definitions for nosh that I've seen before include "Eat (slang) -- food (slang)" , "Slangy food or meal" , "Food - eat greedily" , "A slang meal" , "Fare" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
