The m, o, n or y of “money”? (4)
I believe the answer is:
note
'money?' is the definition.
(I know that note is a type of cash)
'the m o n or y' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'the' could be 't' (the is pronounced as a 't' sound in some dialects) and 't' is found in the answer.
'o' is present in the answer.
'n' is found in the answer.
A single letter 'e' remains which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'of' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for note that I've seen before include "Single tone; short letter" , "Some money - some music" , "Bill" , "Observe - musical symbol" , "Comment" .)
