Crossword Genius

The odds are that it's almost lunchtime (3,2,3)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

ten to one

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'lunchtime' is the definition.
Both the definition and answer are singular nouns.
Perhaps there's an association between them I don't understand?

'the odds are that it's almost' is the wordplay.
'the odds are' becomes 'tento' (I can't justify this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'that' becomes 'yon' (archaic term meaning 'that').
'it' becomes 'e' ('e' can mean 'electronic' which is similar to 'IT').
'almost' means to remove the first letter.
'yon'+'e'='yone'
'yone' with its initial letter taken away is 'one'.
'tento'+'one'='TEN-TO-ONE'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for ten to one that I've seen before include "time?" , "Most likely" , "In all probability" .)

I've seen this clue in The Globe and Mail.
