I believe the answer is:

importer

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'taken by drinker' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both people as well as being singular nouns.
Perhaps they are linked in a way I don't understand?

'the one taking it all in rejects road' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'one' could be 'i' (Roman numeral) and 'i' is present in the answer.
'it' could be 't' (abbreviation. e.g. in 'tis) and 't' is present in the answer.
'road' could be 'm' and 'm' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'porer' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

(Other definitions for importer that I've seen before include "A trader in foreign goods" , "One bringing in goods to country" , "One who brings in" , "Foreign dealer" , "Businessperson" .)

I've seen this clue in the Irish Times.
