The talk of Liverpool (6)
I believe the answer is:
scouse
'liverpool' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't understand how one could define the other.
'the talk of' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'of' could be 'o' and 'o' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'scuse' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for scouse that I've seen before include "English dialect spoken in Liverpool" , "another city's dialect" , "What they speak in Liverpool?" , "(Someone) from Liverpool" , "Liverpudlian (colloq.)" .)
