The ways of Cecil, one hears (5)
I believe the answer is:
roads
'the ways' is the definition.
(road is a kind of way)
'cecil one hears' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'one' could be 'o' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'o' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'rads' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'of' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for roads that I've seen before include "Routes for vehicles" , "Ways, routes" , "an answer to all clues, initially" , "Area by shore where ships lie at anchor; streets" , "Highways" .)
