Crossword Genius

They go around looking to stir us (8)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

tourists

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'they' is the definition.
Both the definition and answer are plural nouns.
Perhaps there's a link between them I don't understand?

'around looking to stir us' is the wordplay.
'to stir us' can be anagrammed to 'TOURISTS'.
But, I'm not clear how this is indicated.

'go' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for tourists that I've seen before include "Visitors and sightseers" , "Holiday-makers from abroad" , "They travel for pleasure" , "Group of visitors" .)

I've seen this clue in The Globe and Mail.
