Through going through and looking through (8)
I believe the answer is:
perusing
'through going' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both to do with perception as well as being present participle verbs.
Perhaps there's an association between them I don't understand?
'through and looking through' is the wordplay.
'through' becomes 'per' (I've seen this before).
'and' means one lot of letters go next to another.
'looking through' becomes 'using' (I can't justify this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'per'+'using'='PERUSING'
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for perusing that I've seen before include "Reading carefully" , "Examining with attention" .)
