Tidied and made a pile from (7,2)
I believe the answer is:
cleaned up
'tidied' is the definition.
('clean up' can be a synonym of 'tidy')
'made a pile from' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'a' could be 'an' and 'an' is found in the answer.
'from' could be 'e' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'e' is present in the answer.
'made' could be 'led' (leading is a kind of making) and 'led' is present in the leftover letters.
The remaining letters 'cup' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'and' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for cleaned up that I've seen before include "what the charlady did" , "Put in order - gained financially" , "'Hit the Jackpot'" , "Made a substantial profit" , "Expurgated" .)
