Times: years among US lawyers? (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

days

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'times' is the definition.
(day is a unit of time)

'years among us lawyers?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'years' could be 'y' (abbreviation) and 'y' is found in the answer.
'lawyers?' could be 'das' (D.A. is an example) and 'das' is found within the leftover letters.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for days that I've seen before include "` `They are not long, the .... of wine and roses' ' (Dowson)" , "Sun, Mon, Tues, ..." , "Units of time" , "Sevenths of a week" , "Twenty four hour periods" .)

I've seen this clue in The Sun.
