Tipsy - like Robin's men (5)
I believe the answer is:
merry
'tipsy' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'like robin's men' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'like' could be 'y' (similar in meaning) and 'y' is found in the answer.
'men' could be 'rr' (R is short for rook - man can mean a chess piece) and 'rr' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'me' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for merry that I've seen before include "Convivial" , "Drunk - happy" , "Jolly and bright" , "Jolly and gay" , "Full of fun and gaiety" .)
