Top-class puzzle. Wow! (5)
I believe the answer is:
amaze
'wow' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are verbs in their base form, I can't see how one could define the other.
'top-class puzzle' is the wordplay.
'top class' becomes 'a' (top grade).
'puzzle' becomes 'maze' (I've seen this before).
'a'+'maze'='AMAZE'
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for amaze that I've seen before include "Startle" , "Flummox" , "Flabbergast" , "Greatly surprise, fill with wonder" , "Floor" .)
