Crossword Genius

Tore out article earlier in addition (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

thereto

'in addition' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'tore out article earlier' is the wordplay.
'out' is an anagram indicator (out can mean wrong or inaccurate).
'article' becomes 'the' (the 'definite article' part of speech).
'earlier' is a charade indicator (letters next to each other).
'tore' anagrammed gives 'reto'.
'reto' after 'the' is 'THERETO'.

(Other definitions for thereto that I've seen before include "To that place" , "Up to that point" , "In addition" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
